Providing quality care for children in the spirit of Christian love

Family Coaching

Family coaching is a community-based service that promotes the stability and well-being of children and families. Adriel is dedicated to serving children and extending these supports to their families, helping them meet their unique needs and successfully maintain the family structure.

Adriel contracts with agencies to provide family coaching services to families. A family coach works with the entire family with the goal of keeping the family intact while providing tools and techniques for building and maintaining relationships as well as skills. Issues that are often addressed by Coaches include routine and structure, household maintenance/cleanliness, positive family interaction, behavioral intervention, and accessing community resources.

Family Coaching Services

Through family coaching, we provide one or more of the following services to families struggling to safely maintain their family unit:

One-to-One Coaching
Family Coaching is designed to provide in-home, hands-on, practical parenting development and education aimed at families who are in or near crisis.  The Coach is a stable and reliable resource for the family throughout the time that they are receiving services.

Training & Education
Training and education are central to everything we do. The Coach provides the parent(s) with tools for dealing with child behaviors, assists them with a family budget, designs structured family schedules, and how to maintain a clean and safe home. Supporting and developing parents and providing them with tools to more effectively deal with day-to-day responsibilities and child behaviors is key. When parents understand and implement a new way of working with their children, they are less likely to revert to old patterns. When the family’s basic needs are being met, parents and children live with less daily stressors, which allows for the family to develop as a stronger unit.

Meetings & Support
The Coach will attend and participate in team meetings, school meetings, and/or court hearings, making recommendations for treatment programming.

Information and Referral Services
Family Coaches will assist families in locating and using available and appropriate community resources. Families will be linked to community resources that will help them to meet any unfulfilled basic needs, promote self-sufficiency, strengthen personal development, and/or address needs that may impede effective parenting.

Activities for Parents and Kids
There’s no doubt that parenting is a serious endeavor. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. In fact, family activities are an important component of family coaching. They can help families bond, laugh, and learn together.

They can include:

  • Planned activities for the youth and/or caregiver
  • Structured activities to improve family functioning
  • A variety of activities may be used to help the family meet their set goals. These may include cooking as a family, role playing, recreational activities
