You Ask: How Can I Help People in Foster Care?
Over 125 years, Adriel’s mission and ministry have been sustained by a “family” of supporters all asking and answering the community-based question, “how can I help people in foster care?” The prayers, advocacy, volunteer hours, and generous financial support of those who have asked that question and become part of our family have blessed us beyond measure.
The need is as great - or greater - now than it has ever been. Today, there are over 16,000 children in protective custody in Ohio alone. Adriel foster families have served more than 400 children this year! Asking the question means you join us in recognizing the need. We are here to help you answer by helping in the spirit of Christian love, and any tangible way you can.
We Answer: There are So Many Ways to Help.
There are many ways you can answer the question “how can I help people in foster care?” and make a lasting impact on the life of a child! Here are the primary ways you can help children in foster care in Ohio:
Become a Foster Parent
There is no bigger, better, more direct or more rewarding way to help than to get trained, licensed, and become a foster parent yourself. It is our greatest need, and it is the greatest gift you will ever give or receive.
Donate Funds to Support Our Programs
We have several ways you can contribute financially to help fund our programs that help children in foster care. Adriel Foundation is a tax-exempt organization so your gifts are tax deductible.
Attend or Volunteer at a Fundraising Event
Each year, Adriel hosts a golf scramble at the beginning of September. We need both volunteers to help run our events, and guests to attend.
More Ways to Help People in Foster Care
If you’re still wondering how you can help people in foster care without a major investment of time or money, here are three big ones:
In-Kind Donations
So many people in our community have made a difference for the children who need our help. Here are just a few beautiful examples of how they have answered that question and helped us help children in foster care:
- Farmers have donated produce and meat.
- Amish and Mennonite Women’s groups have made comforters for our kids for many years.
- Many talented quilters, sewing groups, woodworkers, and other artists have donated items for our events.
- Youth groups have completed several service projects at Adriel.
Prayers
Neighbors and friends have prayed and continue to pray for us. Please join them and pray for our children, our foster families, our staff, and Adriel’s leadership. We feel every prayer, and each one makes a difference.
Spread the Word
Learn about our programs and the good things we are doing with children and tell others about them! Share the Adriel story. You never know who might be asking the same question you did!
We are so thankful for everything that has been shared with us.
